It started as a response to the need for reliable analytical tests that contribute to correct diagnoses of diseases. It is the only in the country that performs certain basic tests. It is intended to provide equal treatment to all people, which is significant in that context.

Prices are affordable to the majority of the population and it has a system of free care for those unable to pay. The important goal is the training of its own staff and that of other laboratories in the country through courses and a medical library open to health professionals.
